A man in California was relieved when his parrot turned up after four years missing… but was somewhat confused to find that he now speaks Spanish.
Nigel, an African grey parrot, apparently spoke with a British accent when he disappeared in 2010. Sounds like he’s been on quite the adventure.
“He’s doing perfect,” owner Darren Chick, a British man living in the US, told the Daily Breeze. “It’s really weird. I knew it was him from the minute I saw him.”
It seems the reunion came about thanks to a woman who was running advertisements for her own missing bird. When someone responded having found Nigel, she realised it wasn’t her pet and managed to track down Chick.
He maintains that he has absolutely no idea how Nigel came to be speaking Spanish, and adds that the pesky bird bit him when they were first reconciled. Now, however, they are back to getting on like a house on fire.
