A member of staff of the popular University of Lagos by the name Gbeminiyi Oke, has been apprehended and charged before Isolo Magistrates’ court over charges of admission fraud.
The suspect, according to reports collected a whooping sum of Two-Hundred thousand Naira from a post graduate admission seeker, identified as Reginald Mbanusi.
Gbeminiyi Oke started the scam by claiming he his a Unilag staff that gets an admission slot for each academic session’s admission to the desperate Reginald Mbanusi whose frustration had grown over previous unsuccessful trials to gain post graduate admission.
Reginald Mbanusi paid the reported sum as stated above and no admission was offered to him it was at this point he came to his senses and realised he had been scammed.
Reginald immediately reported the case at Area ‘D’ police Command , Mushin and Gbeminiyi Oke was subsequently arrested.
According to reports filed by P.M News, the police force tried all they could to recover the money from Oke but to no avail and was then charged to court.
A Magistrate court sitting in Isolo presided over by Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Adebayo granted Gbeminiyi Oke bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum after he pleaded innocent of all charges leveled against him him by the prosecutor.
Gbeminiyi Oke is currently still at Kirikiri though because his bail and conditions for release have not been perfected.
