Nigerian Twittersphere Reacts to Buhari Calling Germany “West Germany” & Getting President’s Name Wrong

Buhari G3

For the past few hours, the hot topic on Twitter has been some errors President Muhammadu Buhari made during a recent press briefing.
Buhari mistakenly referred to Germany as “West Germany” and mentioned meeting with German president “Michelle” at the G7 summit. However, he  met with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, and not the president. Furthermore, the president’s name isn’t Michelle – it’s Joachim Gauck.
Well, we can kind of see how the “West Germany” error was made. Germany was once called “West Germany” in the period between its creation on 23 May 1949 to German reunification on 3 October 1990. So let’s just say say he called Germany its “old name.”
Here’s the video of the press briefing where he made the errors (after the 3:20 mark)
