Benue Lawmakers Trade Blows In State House of Assembly

Daily Post informs that a mass brawl ensued at the Benue state house of assembly on Tuesday following the election of Barr Adanyi of the (APC Makurdi south) as Majority leader.

It was gathered that an opposition, Hon. Martins Aza (PDP Makurdi North) objected to Adnyi’s elections claiming that the PDP has 16 members in the house hence should have the majority leader.
The APC lawmakers rejected the PDP lawmaker’s claims and as words being traded were not enough, the two lawmakers decided to turn the house to a wrestling ring.
But for the timely intervention of other lawmakers in the hallowed chamber the brawl could have caused more embarrassments  both lawmakers who were at each others throats.
Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom has has sent a list of  13 persons nominated to be commissioners in his cabinet to be screened by the lawmakers. Meanwhile, Benue state is one of numerous states suffering from the salary crisis affecting the nation.
Governor Ortum was one of the governors present for the meeting with President Muhammudu Buhari held earlier today which was scheduled to find possible solutions to the crisis.
